    Story

Be-Yoga is a community in Mid-Sussex founded and run by wife and husband team Bryony Hamerton and Silas Tyak, who work tirelessly to bring the benefits of yoga for mind and body in person to the people of Sussex and online to everyone. They passionately believe that yoga is for everyone and wish to support old and young in outreach programs and at the centre.

Each year, Be-Yoga welcomes and touches the lives of hundreds of people.Their classes, community projects and presence have been truly life-enhancing and supported the mental health of the local population. There is such a desperate need for them and now for them to be financially supported to weather this latest storm.

    WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

“Thank you for providing a place for me”

“ You have entirely changed how I feel about living in Mid Sussex’’

‘’ This truly is yoga for the community’’

‘’ You helped my son when he was going through a really difficult time and me too, by allowing a safe non-judgemental space, and helping me manage the stress- what would we do without you?!’

Bryony and Silas were forced to move after developers took over their original premises in 2019 and responded by investing even more time, energy and money, despite being busy stretched parents, to bring the dream of a community space with yoga at its heart, when Covid dealt another enormous blow.

    The impact of Covid-19

Covid-19 has hit them hard. They were forced to close our doors in march and pause community projects. But they quickly responded by setting up classes via zoom to help the community through the physical and mental impacts of lockdown. They offer karma yogi classes for those on low income, free teen classes and have classes for all ages. Government initiatives meant that although landlords were offered respite, this was not extended to Be Yoga, who still had to absorb the costs of running, impacting their personal and family finances.

As a result of the big changes imposed by Covid-19, their income has been dramatically reduced and their energy and resources depleted. At the moment the sums just don’t add up. We appeal to those who can afford to give a bit to support this incredible resource and support Bryony, Silas and the Be Yoga Community to survive.

We all value all that B&S and the studio continually provides for us and if it holds that space for you too, please consider donating what you can and also joining some online classes at https://www.be-yoga.uk.com/

BeYoga changed my life for the better and I'm sure it has done the same for many others. It would be a huge detriment to our Community to lose this beautiful space. Sending love and support.

Be-Yoga is a wonderful place in our town. Such sadness if it doesn’t survive - I can’t wait to get back to in person classes.
