Story
This page and fundraising are created in memory of a wonderful man, son, brother, husband, daddy, friend - Ben Burton.
Ben passed away on 26th October following his battle with brain tumour; a battle that he took on with positivity, courage and in a way that we all admired every single day.
Ben was an inspiration to so many people in all walks of life and people were always drawn to him, his energy was infectious. Ben was a professional ‘networker’ as he loved meeting people and making friends, he loved getting to know everyone, hearing stories – he was so curious about everything! He was also accepting, welcoming and very positive, which provided a light for so many of us.
Ben was a huge advocate for sport and always said that the best way to recover from a night out was to exercise; he had great competitiveness in him, but he was always very kind; Ben loved life and people in it.
Ben loved his family and always talked about his daughters, he wanted to see them grow up and build a life.
I can continue to list all fantastic qualities here and write about Ben but actually there are not enough words to describe Ben.
When Ben was diagnosed with brain tumour, he immediately started raising much needed funds for the Brain Tumour Charity. He always said – the cure cannot wait, and he was so right. Illnesses like the one Ben suffered continue to take lives of amazing people and we all have the same dream in our hearts - to see the day when this will come to an end.
This page is to raise funds for two causes close to Ben’s heart – The Brain Tumour Charity and the Myton Hospice in Warwick that cared for Ben during his last weeks.
All proceeds will be split between these organisations so please support this page – every little bit means so much.
To support this fundraising, we’ve entered a big team from construction industry to participate in Tough Mudder 2023 – 10k and 20 challenges. Some of us have a good level of fitness and some of us will have to work very hard to complete this challenge but we all want to do it for Ben, we want to make him proud, and we want to raise money for causes that were important to him.
I never thought we will be doing this in Ben’s memory, but the reality is harsh and all we can do is stay strong, stay focussed and live, live, live as this is what Ben would have wanted us to do!
Thank you for reading and thank you for your donation. And finally, we all need to be a bit more Ben!
