Story

Karen Jones

In July this year (2021) Karen was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Our family Gareth (husband) Gethin, Dylan and Ela (kids) have been devastated by the news and found it very difficult, but we are determined to support our Mum and help her fight MND! Ultimately, we want to be instrumental in finding a cure.

Prior to being diagnosed Karen worked for the NHS as a midwife for 30 years looking after people and caring for others at all times in her day to day life. She’s a bubbly, caring and supportive person to all she comes in contact with. Anyone who knows Karen will testify that she is the life and sole of the party; when she enters any room she brings life to it. She has always put others first before herself.

We would be forever grateful for your support in helping us put her first.

Stephen Darby at the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation has been an amazing support to Karen and has now become a good friend of the family, we all find him inspirational.

We have created this page to help raise funds to allow Karen access to the best possible treatment (only available in the USA), equipment and care.

Please can anyone who is able, spare whatever is affordable to assist us reach our goal. With your help we will spread the word far and wide to help raise awareness.

We are going to be doing multiple fundraisers for Karen during this time to raise awareness, funds. 25% of the funds that we are raising will be going straight to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. We promise to keep you updated on all events on this page.

Mum is staying strong and only has a positive mindset for what lies ahead. MND won’t define Karen Jones, she will define it!

Motivated • Not giving up • Determined

Thank you on behalf of Mum and us all.

Gareth, Gethin, Dylan and Ela Xx
