I've raised £1450 to Buy a treadmill for ALAC (The artificial limb & Amputee Centre) for helping patients with their rehabilitation.

My husband Peter had his lower leg amputated last October and he’s been wheelchair bound since the surgery. He has been fitted with a prosthesis but currently still going through rehabilitation and can only wear it at the hospital. He attends ALAC in Swansea twice a week for a one on one rehabilitation.
There are hundreds of patients that rely on ALAC every week as once you are an amputee they look after you for life. Since Pete started his rehabilitation it has amazed me how many patients attend ALAC - male, female, teenagers, children & I even met a couple with an 18 month old baby girl who had both legs amputated at the knees. All have to go through a rigorous training before and after receiving a prosthesis.
It was a surprise for Pete when he heard that the treadmill was broken and had been out of action for over a year ! The NHS will not buy a new one and ALAC have to self fund the purchase. So Pete decided he would raise the money to purchase a new one as a treadmill would massively help the department and help the patients with their rehabilitation.
