In November 2022, Kai received an out of the blue diagnoses. In March 2023 and after smashing 6 weeks of radiotherapy, Kai and his family were feeling optimistic. Then came the agonising wait for the scan to see if the treatment has worked which initially appeared very positive. However, after a further scan it became apparent Kai had developed further tumours resulting in him now being unable to travel on the families prebooked holiday to Lanzorote.

Throughout this Kai has taken everything in his stride and has been brave and shown courage beyond compare. This mirrored in his loving and supportive parents, Clare and Dave and younger sister Isla.

To support Kai and his family, and give them all a holiday they all deserve we welcome donations to help the Meakins rebook a UK based holiday.

Ilkeston Rutland CC together with family and friends are organising a golf day at Erewash Valley golf club on the 31st May and a friendly cricket match at Ilkeston Rutland Cricket Club on the 18th June to help raise funds.
