Story

4 like minded people Christian, Karen, Rob and Hannah each have special places in their heart for community organisations that have played a part in their lives. I, Karen volunteer every Tuesday afternoon at the Seagull Cafe A music group for the over 60’s enabling them to improve their health and wellbeing through stimulation of music and movement by breathing, singing, moving and meeting others. The group started as a pilot and now in it's 4th year we want to keep it going anyway we can.

Rob has watched his daughter Hannah battle with an eating disorder from a young age and now at 16 she has control back again. This was achieved by the support and guidance from Jenny Langley at the Charlie Waller Trust, who had a support group for dad's to attend and he is eternally grateful, for everything Jenny (leader) did for him.

Hannah had support from Beat, the charity for eating disorders and remains fit and strong on her journey through recovery. Hannah is a beacon for other young people suffering as Hannah did.

Christian being friends with all 3 is supporting all the charities in any way he can. In May Christian and Rob canoed 100km doing the Caledonian Canal Route a very gruelling 3.5 days.

The 4 of them, listening to each others stories wanted to help each other raise money for their community group but they wanted to do something together. Karen had surgery on her knee after a dog accident and has temporary pins in place so running wasn't an option. Rob had a detached retina and didn't want to risk anything extreme, Hannah needed something fun and Chrisitan will do just about anything. Now, bearing in mind our ages the oldest being 57 and the youngest being 16 we decided to do something we think we can all do which is a dance/cycle-athon for 12 hours in our local village institute Sat 26th August 2023 from 7am to 7pm live on facebook. To help us achieve this, we've kindly asked Rick Jefferson to loan 3 of his spin bikes from Bay Fit Gym, for us to use.

So, come on down dance with us, spin with us, lead a dance or even join the conga through the village as the last dance but most of all join us to keep us going. Thank you so much - Dancing Queen Karen x
