Story

Hi, as most of you know, me and my sister lost our mum to cancer almost four years ago, she was only 61 years old and it broke all our hearts. She was too young to die.

Eight weeks ago, towards the end of lockdown, my sister Juliet found a lump in her breast. Fast forward to now and that lump has become Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which has now spread to both her lungs making her condition incurable (as it stands with current treatment) but incurable can still mean life, but just living with the disease - that was our hope.

But then yesterday (7th September) we were dealt the devastating news that my sister’s life prognosis is only around two years, with 5% of people making it to five years. She’s 42 and doesn’t deserve this. None of our family deserve this. She’s is way too young to die.

She is starting treatment here in the UK but although there are some great options available, there isn’t every option - other countries such as the USA and Germany are ahead of us with their treatments and research.

So although Juliet is going to start her treatment in the next couple of weeks, we are giving it until the end of the year and if those tumours have not shrunk, we will be looking to send her abroad. And that’s why we are fundraising now... if and when she gets the green light to go, we will need the funds readily available. It’s not cheap and it’s not something any of us can afford without everyone’s help.

Juliet has spent most of her life doing fundraising, mentoring, supporting others and has herself also conquered and won a long battle with mental health illness. She doesn’t deserve to have been dealt this card and I can’t lose my sister only four years after losing my mum.

Thank you all for your support, we as a family hugely appreciate it.
