Story

It's been 12 years since my 73 year old mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. The brutal reality is that it's getting worse, and the world has yet to find a cure.

Despite the challenges that this disease presents, my mum is fighting back once more. This time with a 100km cycle through the Jordanian Desert in order to raise money to help fund the fight for a cure.

Together with 20 other heroes, we will attempt to cycle 100km from Petra, in Jordan, to Wadi Rum, the desert Lawrence of Arabia helped put on a map. 100km will be a serious challenge, so we're doing it over 2 days, roughly 50km per day. Then camping for the night, then finishing on the 2nd day.

Some of the group will run, some of the group will cycle individually, and my mum and I will tackle it on a tandem bike. All with the view of initially 10,000GBP (with a hope for $20,000USD!)

This is the 3rd challenge of my amazing mum's Parkinson's journey. In 2019, it was climbing Mount Fuji (and nearly killed her!), then in 2021 it was doing a 10km as part of the Serengeti Marathon, and now we arrive in the Middle East. My mum a little older, Parkinson's a little more apparent, but with a spirit to fight back even larger than before.

PLEASE help us both find a cure with a small donation, and also please help support my mum's huge effort by undertaking such strenuous training, and then the expedition itself. It takes a huge toll, but it's so important to her (and all of us) to know we're doing our best to make a difference.

PS We all pay for our own trips, 100%. So 100% of your donation goes directly to Cure Parkinson's UK. None of it goes towards funding any of our trip.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
