Story

Since George was diagnosed with a rare cancer (rhabdomyosarcoma) on his liver/bile duct on 3rd August 2023 (a date we will never forget) he has been on a really tough journey,. This has included 9 rounds of chemo and a ground-breaking IRE (nano-knife) procedure plus resection to remove the tumour from his liver/bile duct. As I update this page (14th May 2024) George is in good health and doing well!

Despite it all he has continued to be brimming with energy (full of piss & vinegar as my dad would have said) and generally in fine form. We can't thank the teams at GOSH, Kings and St Mary's Hospitals and Prof Leen, Prof Stebbing and Prof Zacharoulis enough for their kindness, support and professionalism. A special thank you to the surgical team (under Prof Nigel Heaton) at Kings Rays of Sunshine for your skills and getting George this amazing, R0 result!

We - everyone on Team George - have done really well too with our fundraising! Smashed the original £20k with some amazing charity runs - special thanks to Bhavin Shah for getting this started - and then Sara Wakeling at Alice's Arc for the 1/2 marathon place this summer. The pre-Christmas running culminated in 84 runners taking part in the Regents Park 5/10k race last Sunday (26th Nov). The charity rugby game in St Albans on 30 Dec was great too (thanks again Mick!).

The running continued in April, with Rory Williams nailing the Manchester Marathon in an amazing time (2 hours 59 mins) and then Bhavin Shah and me running the London Marathon (although not quite as fast as Rory "Mo Farrah" Williams!).

The Team George Golf Day on 1 May was a belter of a day - thank you to everyone who attended. Special thank you to Stuart Williams for organising and running the day.

The long awaited SKY-DIVE is next up - to be rescheduled for sometime this summer (when the weather is better!). Kate, Stu, Sharon-Jump-Suit-Jeetha and I will be throwing ourselves out of a perfectly good plan in Oxfordshire all in aid of Team George.

In a more sedate setting, we are holding a Charity Dinner evening for Team George on Wed 3rd July at The Carlton Club (tickets still available - please direct message me (jonathan@jb360solutions.com) - there are some cracking prizes up for auction.

All of these amazing events should be a great way of allowing Team George to give a little (more) back to these 4 amazing charities (see below). We hope through raising money for these amazing charities we can make a difference to future children and parents who may end up going down the same road as we are travelling - it’s not an easy journey.

Despite it all, George remains in tremendously high spirits. He is one tough cookie. Together we WILL help him get through this and go on to live a long and fulfilling life.
