Story
We are currently fundraising for John Shackleton, a brave, wholesome man from Harrogate who has been providing aid and supplies to Eastern Europe for over 30 years. John plans to go to Turkey to provide aid after the recent earthquake which has affected the lives of many. John plans to go in early Spring 2023 to complete his 49th trip, but we need your help!
John has been going to Eastern Europe for over 30 years providing aid and fire engines/ambulances to those in need. He has so far competed 48 trips and hopes to get to 50! Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, John is struggling to raise enough funds to go over, we therefore are in desperate need of your help.
At an incredible 83 years old, John hopes to make the final 2 trips before his 'retirement' , his previous trips have been supported by the help of family, friends and strangers, meeting many kind-hearted folk along the way!
An ambulance pre-covid cost around £12,000, they are now fetching around £25,000 and are a lot harder to source, this means that Johns usual fundraising methods: selling (and cutting!) logs, partaking in car boots, and talking at events, are unfortunately not making him enough money to purchase one for his trip.
John and his team usually take aid and supplies, including spectacles, wheelchairs, toys, and of course, an ambulance or fire engine. They then hitch hike to the nearest airport and fly back to the UK, all within the space of a week or two.
If you can please spare some money to support John on his incredible journey, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
