Story
Charles John Shackleton, MBE, an 85-year-old veteran humanitarian from Harrogate, North Yorkshire has embarked on 49 self-funded missions over three decades, delivering aid to war-torn regions such as Romania, Kosovo, and Afghanistan at considerable financial cost to himself. Recognized in The King’s Birthday Honours List for his services to fundraising and the provision of humanitarian aid, Shackleton seeks financial support for his upcoming 50th mission, which will also be his 3rd to Kiev, Ukraine. The goal is to raise £30,000, aiming to depart in early October 2024. His self-funded missions have brought hope and relief to countless lives across Eastern Europe and beyond.

John’s selflessness and dedication are remarkable, and as this may be his final mission, we are reaching out once again for your support. 2 months agoFinal Mission Update: Successful Delivery of Evacuation Vehicles to Ukraine & An Adventurous Return We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our mission to deliver vital aid to Ukraine. On the 9th of October 2024, John Shackleton and our team of co-drivers - Russell, Ed, Mick, and Mark - safely transferred two 4x4 Ford Ranger FWD Evacuation vehicles to our charity partners working with the Ukrainian military in Ivano-Frankivsk.
