I've raised £5000 to To help build and fund Saints Board Riders Surf Club at Porthmeor beach St Ives. A building for all the local community to use.

Saints Board Riders
Saints Board Riders was started in 2008 with just 13 members, it now has over 150 junior memberships and a growing adult membership. Saints Boardriders is an inclusive club that teaches members of all ages and abilities to surf while fostering a supportive and positive local surfing/beach community. At present the club has nowhere to store equipment or a space to do further training or community events. Instead the club relies heavily on the good will and hospitality of St Ives Surf School. With a club house the Saints Board Riders could expand its membership, reaching more people in the community and securing the future of the club. The building will also be used by The Wave Project ; A local charity which helps young people to reduce anxiety and improve confidence through surfing! Their award-winning surf courses are proven to help young people feel calmer, more motivated and better about their future. The RLNI will also have use of the building as well as St Ives Surf Life Saving Club. The building will also incorporate toilets and hot showers for public use, making it truly a community building.
Here is a supportive letter from Surfing England’s Nick Rees:
Within our role we are responsible and passionate about supporting grass roots surfing, in which Surf Clubs play an incredibly important part. Our role is to assist them in harnessing the potential they possess. Our experience of Saints Board Riders is one of excellence, professionalism and creativity. We frequently see club members on the medal podiums of the National events. However elite performance is a product of grass roots development and support, which we see through the successful and consistent local service provided by Saints Board Riders. In fact, the club’s service led us to promote its structure as a model to other clubs where we also made the following public statement in an article published in September 2015:
“…with Saints Board Riders being an excellent demonstration of how local community and passion for surfing can create positive experiences and education in all ages and abilities”. We fully support Saints Board Riders in their club house vision and hope that you do to. This facility is key to the development of the club and its future whilst ensuring Saints Board Riders continues its journey as one of the outstanding community organisations in British Surfing.
