I've raised £2000 to buy a Solar Powered Water Pump for a school for blind children in Malawi. To do this Joe is cycling 300Km from London to Paris on 30 April.

Am riding a bicycle from London to Paris on the 30th April 2022 covering 300Km in 24hrs to raise money to buy a water pump for Ekwendeni School for blind children in Malawi. The school has 60 children who are blind or visually impaired and some with albinism. After speaking to the school headteacher I learnt that the school lacks so many things including clean water. The water pump which feeds the school with good water broke down 3 years ago so the pupils and school staff have to walk a 2km distance to fetch water for drinking, cooking and bathing using hand buckets. Also to mention a few other problems the main nutrition available to these pupils is maize (corn) and dried beans and despite this food not providing a balanced diet on a daily basis it also runs short regularly leading to some days of no food. Other needs include learning equipment for blind children. Specialists for the blind recommend that learning how to read and write using braille technology should start at a very young age and this school does not have such equipment to teach these skills. Although this school offers these children a refuge and a chance at success, with all these challenges it‘s struggling to stay afloat.
Thinking about all these problems and deprivation this school is facing, I am taking on this challenge to raise money to acquire some of the things this school needs in order to relieve the plight these children go through. The money raised will be used to purchase first the much needed solar powered water pump which will cost about GBP2,000 ($2500).
I will also be taking material donations like school books and any other learning equipment suitable for blind children. These items can be new or used but in good condition. My contact number +447939751563 and email joe_nkosi@hotmail.com.
I have created this JUST GIVING page to receive monetary donations for this cause.
Please help me achieve this goal and thanks for your support.
