Story

The Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Forum want to raise £425 to have a tree planted in memory of Jody Dobrowski.

Jody was the victim of a devastating homophobic murder on Clapham Common in 2005, October 15th. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/11934107/Why-Jody-Dobrowski-is-a-name-we-must-never-forget.html

This awful attack would lead to the creation of the Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Forum. Our role back then was to be a better link between the community and with the police. 13 years on we have grown to be a different type of organisation but Jody's memory still carries with us.

The Cedar tree will be planted on Clapham Common near the historic bandstand on December 5th 2018 by the Friends of Clapham Common with the support of CCMAC (Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee).

In addition to the tree, an framed, A1-size graphic will be commissioned to indicate the trees and their names. This, we expect, will be hung in the Bandstand cafe.

As a voluntary organisation we are not in receipt of any regular funding. We don't want this opportunity to pass us by and asking the community to donate what they can so we can give Jody this final tribute.

Thank you for reading and hope you can support our cause!
