Iʼve raised £4,252 to help fund new state of the art testing, looking at mutations of the cancer cells amenable to different treatment options for Jodie.

    Story

When me and Jodie Stobbs saw her oncologist in December, he mentioned this state of the art new testing that’s being done in Denmark 🇩🇰

Current cancer care is a basic one size fits all, so you’ll receive a standardised treatment that appears to work for that specific cancer.

However latest research has shown this is not the case and 25 people could have the same cancer but all could respond better to different treatments.

The cancer type is in fact irrelevant!

It’s the persons DNA marker that defines which treatment is best.

This lab in Denmark takes a piece of the primary tumour and strips it right back to the D.N.A. The results are then input into a super computer and it will match you directly to the best treatment, this could be a cocktail of medicines or even clinical trials.

This is Jodies best chance to date of finding something to extend her life expectancy beyond just a couple of months. However there is no guarantees that Jodie’s biomarker will have an immunotherapy drug available but I can’t not try and get her this test.

The test costs £3000 and takes around 3 weeks from start to finish, time is one thing we don’t have so I am going to do a sponsored event to try and raise this money.

People have already done more than enough for us and forever we will be grateful ❤️

I really didn’t want to have to ask people to help us yet again but as a husband and father, I have to do everything I possibly can to give her the greatest possible chance at this fight.

SO HERE IS MY GREAT PLAN 🥴

Me and good old Les Hickens will be doing a sponsored walk, yes I know a walks boring but we are going to get a train to Newcastle aka the Toon and walk back 200 miles… dressed as Supermen! Hardly the proclaimers but it’ll do 😂😂

The walk will begin on 21st of January leaving St James park Newcastle at 10am. We will be looking to walk 25 miles per day arriving back at the Red Lion, lower Gornal on the following Saturday 28th at 6pm.

For a bloke that gets out of puff walking to the local shop and back, this gonna be a killer 😭

I’m uploading this now just to ask you all to get behind us and give Jodie stobbs the chance at life she deserves.

    Thank you all ❤️

    Thank you all 💙💙💙

FEELING OVERWHELMED 🥺 The target has been officially smashed. Me, Jodie and our children would like to say a huge thank you to every single person that has made this possible. The donations and messages of support have literally blown us away! We can’t possibly thank every person individually as many of the donations have come in from strangers and anonymous people but I hope this message does reach you. We will keep you all updated with the outcome of the test etc, as you are all part of this journey with us.Thank you all so much ❤️

***Update from Mike*** It pains me to say the walk can no longer happen due to an ongoing issue with my Anterior Cruciate Ligament 😭 HOWEVER AS THEY SAY THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Instead 210 mile trip will be on electric scooters. Dressed as Supermen for the entirety of the Journey. I hope you will all still be willing to get behind us and continue with the amazing support. I know it might not be the physical challenge it was intended to be but it’s still quite the task for two Middle aged men. Thank you for your continued support ❤️
