Story

Reading is well known to be the key to achieving academic excellence - no matter what age you are. The past year has made it incredibly difficult for all schools to facilitate daily reading and track pupil progress robustly. At Seva, we now wish to plug gaps that lockdowns have created....but we need YOUR help!

Our school budget has been hit significantly by Covid: money that would normally have been spent on learning resources have been deployed to fogging machines, additional cleaning materials, cover staff for colleagues isolating, additional cleaning staff, laptops for home learning and online resources to support progress (such as GCSE Pod).

We would like £5000 to pay for the following:

1. A subscription to Accelerated Reader (AR) for year 3 upwards (this software tells us if children have actually understood what they have read and gives us accurate reading ages each term).

2. More books to use with AR across the school.

3. Subscriptions to student newspapers and magazines to embed a love of reading across the school.

Just £10 per child at the school should ensure we reach our £5000 target! We hate to ask when times are tough, but we desperately want to see our students flourish and make up for time away from school :-)
