Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am Andrew Leitch partner of the late Jim Harvey.

I am hoping to raise £1,500 towards funding a bench in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow, where friends and colleagues can sit and remember Jim Harvey and how he was part of their lives.

It is now 6 months since Jim Harvey passed away very suddenly and the shock is still profound.

I am writing this on what would have been his 62nd birthday, which would have been another year older and another year closer to the retirement that never came. Now Jim will be forever young.

Jim had many friends and colleagues in community based housing across Scotland. He was highly respected as a colleague, mentor and friend by so many in the sector.

I know from my own personal experience how dedicated Jim was to his work. The long, long, hours he spent to make sure what he did was the best. What he did came from his heart and a profound desire to help those less fortunate than himself.

This was demonstrated by the numbers of people who attended the Gathering to celebrate his life at SWG3 on 20th July which followed the small family comital.

That his work made a real difference is what drove him and drove the excellence of his work. His legacy will continue.

He was truly a man of the people. A modest man who gave so much to so many.

We spent many a happy afternoon walking around Kelvingrove Park. Often alighting on one of the memorial benches with a view out over the University we both studied at. We chatted about those whose memories were being continued and how it would be nice, when our time came, to have one, where the survivor could come and talk about what they had been doing and seek advice from their loved one.

I would like to give people the opportunity to remember him by contributing to a memorial bench where we can enjoy and share our memories of Jim and keep him up to date on all our news.

I thank you in advance for your generosity.
