Story

Hi, my name is Jeyda and I am 16 years old.

I am taking an educational to Kenya in Summer 2021 with some fellow students from St Julians School. We are travelling with Camps International who are global leaders in ethical and sustainable school expeditions. They are fully supported life-enhancing school expeditions across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

This opportunity will provide an authentic cultural experience with a unique opportunity to live alongside rural communities. It will help to broaden my perspective on the world and increase my understanding of the day to day challenges faced by these communities. This could include challenges such as; access to clean water, education and housing. It will help to enhance my self worth along with my appreciation of the impact that one person can have on the world.

I will be completing a Cope Award Level 3, a qualification that recognises personal development in a way that academic qualifications do not. It demonstrates problem solving, working effectively in a group, researching a topic to a high level, presenting findings and reflecting on achievements.

To help to raise the required funds of just over £4000, I have a few ideas!!

Firstly, I restarted my dog biscuit business. I make delicious dog biscuits and every penny of profit that I make goes towards funding this trip of a lifetime.

I named the business after my beloved King Charles Cavalier, Darcy. You can find more information about the business, along with reviews at this link:

Darcy's Dog Treats

This was put on hold a little because of Covid-19 and the logistics with delivery of the treats, but they are still available and it is now more easy for me to organise delivery, with the ability to travel further now in Wales. I can also post them and have done so may times, even during quarantine.

Walking Challenge

Secondly...I am challenging myself to walk 200 miles in the month of July 2020. Getting the MOTIVATION to go outdoors twice a day (at least) to walk 7.5 miles a day is not going to be easy, so I will really appreciate any donations that are given in reward for this and updates will be provided regularly during the month! I am looking forward to getting my medal for 200 miles!

Thanks for those who have ordered dog treats so far, I have already been able to raise a quarter of the money for the trip so far, the cost of the trip is just over £4000, so to now be on £3000 is amazing!! Thanks in advance also for your kind donations to my walking challenge.
