Story
From Jess
I was selected in November 2018 to join an international scout expedition to Tanzania in 2020. 100 young people and leaders are off to work on different 4 projects across Tanzania. I, along with 15 other scouts, am going to Mtimbria to help renovate a medical centre and Maternity ward for the local community. We are away for 4 weeks of hard but satisfying work so we can make a difference to the local community. We each need to raise £3600 for materials for the project, equipment to use while we are there, all our training and transportation out there. Any of the equipment we take will be left for the local scouts and young people to use, so they can experience some of the fun we have had the oppertunity to enjoy.
I am also a young leader, helping out with our local cub pack and Im working towards by Silver DofE. I enjoy walking our dog, camping, cheerleading and baking. I am hoping to eventually train to be a specialist paediatric nurse and work in hospice care. This expedition will be life changing and hopefully open my eyes as to how others around the world manage medical care and be an awesome experience.
