Iʼve raised £2,350 to help fund a cricket pavilion for Belstone Cricket Club

Funded on Tuesday, 28th February 2023

    Story

Belstone Cricket Club is replacing the old wooden pavilion with a modern building that will cater for the whole community. The club already is involved with grassroots activities encouraging local youngsters to learn the game and is very keen to expand the activities on this large open space that enjoys the backdrop of Dartmoor. Archery, croquet and a marked running track are just some of the ideas being considered.

This contributory project is about supplying electricity to the pavilion. At present there is no electricity on site. This would be a huge fillip to the Committee who are working hard to raise funds for the building. The success of a local fund raising campaign would certainly attract and encourage grants from bodies committed to improving local recreational facilities.

So £2000 raised from just 24 donations. Thank you all for your generous support. But to give us pulling power from potential grants we need a lot more local support. Just a small donation and a few encouraging words would give the Committee a much better chance of attracting vital support.

Barry Woods claimed his official title in the Club is general dogsbody. His car is a familiar sight in Rews Meadow as Barrry quietly goes around doing all those jobs that would be noticed if undone. He and his family are passionate supporters of the game and of BCC and it was only fitting that he was present and able to immortalise the name of one of his grandchildren in six metres of setting concrete.
