Story
Michael has a rare condition called limb girdle muscular dystrophy he has significant upper and lower Limb weakness which has been gradually deteriorating over the years. He is still able to walk short distances unaided but cannot get out of a standard height chair without maximum assistance. He requires an armchair that rises vertically to allow him to stand independently. Once on his feet he can walk independently and is obviously keen to maintain this for as long as he can. Due to upper limb weakness he is unable to effectively use his hands to push up to stand. Lower limb weakness means he again does not have effective push up to stand through his legs and needs to lock his knees in extension to maintain his balance on initial standing. Having a rising arm chair will enable Michael to have independently mobility for as long as possible.
