Story
The present committee of the Old Sandbachians' Association is supporting the school’s project to establish two ‘museum cabinets’ in the School Chapel. One cabinet has already been installed and was officially opened by Fiona Bruce MP, a very good friend of the school.
The initiative originally came from several senior pupils who have been enthusiastically supported by Headteacher Sarah Burns. The concept of the museum is to display and make accessible the memorabilia which has been accumulated over generations of boys and provide an insight for today’s pupils of the school’s history and unique ethos.
All first year boys, now called Year 7, will visit the chapel and the museum on Commemoration Day each year to learn all about the school’s heritage. It’s most fitting that the museum is being housed in the chapel, which contains the plaques with the names of old boys who sacrificed their lives in two world wars.
Some old boys may recall that the chapel was originally the boarders’ dining room, and a par of the school which has a close association with the OSA.
The total cost of the bespoke oak glass fronted cabinets is £4,000 and your committee are hoping to raise the full amount. As well as this crowdfunding site, the 2017 golf day profit will go towards this cause, along with other personal donations.
The museum will of course be open to all old boys returning to visit the school and you will be made most welcome.
Your committee would very much welcome your support through the events and personal gifts and ask you to be as generous as possible.
Many Thanks
