Story

LOVE AND SCARS...

Our daughter, Jodi, took her own life in January 2021, days before her 24th birthday. Just before she died, Jodi wrote the lyrics, music and provided all the vocals for 'Love and Scars' - a really powerful song, which means a lot to us and which we want to share with you to raise awareness of mental health issues. The song can be downloaded from bandcamp.com, look for LOVE & SCARS, Jodi Jayne. Please take advantage of Free Fridays as this will help to increase funds. Jodi's song can also be heard as background on the accompanying video and is freely available on YouTube Jodi Jayne Love and Scars https://youtu.be/QsKZklxOi5Q

Jodi graduated from The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in 2018, with a BA in 'Community Drama and Applied Theatre'. She was passionate about music and drama and both were a huge part of Jodi’s life. Music especially helped her express her feelings and manage her anxiety and we know she would have wanted us to help others to do the same, as well as highlight the cause of mental health. Given Jodi’s interests, it's been hard to choose just one charity so we have decided to support three great causes, which are representative of Jodi and her life.

The first is MIND, www.tynesidemind.org.uk, a well known mental health charity that campaigns on behalf of people with mental health problems.
The second: Core Music: www.coremusicshop.co.uk. Core was founded in 2008 to make music accessible to all and re-recorded Jodi's song at no cost in order that we can share it with you.
Last but by no means least is ‘The Lawnmowers Theatre Group’, www.lawnmowerstheatre.com, a unique company run by and for people with learning difficulties. We believe Jodi would be delighted with our choices.
