So, I am turning 50 in December and to celebrate, I really want to give something back. We have been incredibly fortunate over the years to receive much love and endless support from so many, since Emily’s diagnosis and liver transplant. As much as I’d like to run a marathon, bike to Paris, swim the channel etc, I’m too much of a liability these days. My volcano climbing, plane flying, deep sea swimming days are temporarily on hold until the HRT patches are discarded! BUT, I can run a slow 5km up & down the hills, and I’m a pro at embarrassing the teen so figured I’d combine the two. I will run dressed as Wonder Woman through out my birthday month. My cape will have the names of lots of our liver family warriors. And, I have hooked 100 little ‘Sprouts of hope’ which I will gladly take donations for.

As a family, we know only too well the absolute horror of having your life turned upside down, which is why I have chosen the following two charities, Wales Air Ambulance Charity and Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF). The work and support they provide is both life changing and invaluable, giving hope to families when it‘s needed most. Money raised will be donated equally between both charities. I’ve said for the past nine years, that I’ve already received the greatest gift ever, bringing our daughter home post transplant, our family together. On this milestone birthday, I’d very much like to pay this forward and give hope to other families when times are tough.

I initially thought I’d charge the local going rate for the sprouts, (£8.00 small, £10.00 medium & £12.50 for a large). But, I’ve decided to just request a minimum donation of £6.00 plus postage on top £3.50 (I tried to squeeze them through the letter box in the post office but they got stuck, and no one wants a squashed sprout). If you can donate more, I’d be very grateful! Just send me a DM with address and I’ll pop in the post. If I can deliver locally in Cardiff (dressed as wonder woman for an additional fee 😂) I will whenever possible, (obviously no postage required then). Or, if you want to just sponsor me for running as Wonder Woman, any money will be gratefully received. Thank you so much.

I know times are tough at the moment, in more ways than one, and Christmas can be incredibly hard for many. If you can’t donate, I’m grateful you’ve read this far. Just give someone a hug, tell loved ones you love them, be kind, have a giggle and just breathe. All free, but potentially it could make someones day. Please think about becoming an organ donor, and make sure you tell your loved ones your decision. Emily is living proof that organ donation saves and transforms life. Organ donors and their families are all incredible humans, our heroes, as are blood donors ❤️

And, to my Liver Family, these runs are for you. Kids, you will be flying with me on my cape, Mums, the Wonder Woman pants are pulled up. You guys rock, we’d be lost without you. Millie, never forgotten, always loved, you are with me 😘
