Iʼve raised £710 to enable the Rotary Club of Orkney to fund Christmas gifts for every Orkney Care Home resident and to support local charitable projects

Story
Sadly, due to Covid restrictions, Orkney Rotarians are unable to take Santa’s sleigh around the streets of Kirkwall this year. We are deeply disappointed, as are so many families who look forward to the visit of Santa and his helpers.
So instead, Santa and his elves will be making a sponsored walk around the Peerie Sea during all the hours of daylight on Monday 21 December. Between us we will cover the distance from Burwick to Birsay, that is nearly forty miles.
Please support our fundraising for local charitable causes, and please come along to give us a socially distanced wave!

4 years agoRotary Santa and helper about to set off for their three mile walk. This dedicated Santa is doing two stints today (six miles), cheerily waving to every vehicle and person that passes. Please donate if you can spare just a pound or two - 170 residents of our Care Homes and Sheltered Housing will all get a thoughtful Christmas gift. Many thanks.

4 years agoSo tomorrow is the shortest day of the year and the day for our Rotary Santa Walk. Santa, along with his elves and reindeer, will be walking around the Peerie Sea from dawn to dusk. The weather forecast even looks favourable! So if you are in Kirkwall please give us a cheery wave as you pass, and if possible please contribute to our fundraising efforts or share this page with family and friends. Many sincere thanks for your support.
