Story
Hi, I'm Jamie. I'm 14 years old, and love music, art, and sports (especially wheelchair basketball!). I'm like anyone else, just with the difference that I can't walk.
I have been on Buxton ward at the NNUH a fair few times, amounting to a month in total throughout the last 3 months. A fair amount of this time was spent with me unable to leave my bed. Throughout this time I have seen a lot of what entertainment there is, and some of the places it could do with patching up.
I have spent all my Christmas money on a selection of new games for the adolescents room (mentioned below)
There is an adolescents room for 11+, and a playroom for any age, but the playroom only really suits 0 - 5 or 6, meaning ages 7 - 10 only have bedside entertainment, which is fairly limited. my aim is to raise enough money to buy games for that missing age group, and add to the adolescents room. Most of the games in the adolescents room are either old, the novelty wares off quickly or there are pieces missing, so I'd be delighted to be able to upgrade them as well.
I have already used all of my Christmas money to buy games for the adolescents room, but I need your help. Please, if you have anything at all you can donate, even an amount as small as £5 can help enormously. Just 50p can buy a pack of playing cards, £3 can buy a pack of uno cards, £10 Yahtzee, Boggle, or dobble £15 Othello, or scrabble. Since many of these things cannot be sterilised after use by children in isolation, there is a constan need for new games, like uno or packs of cards, so please, help me to diminish boredom in hospital beds by donating what you can, or sharing this page,
Thank you,
Jamie

8 years ago£300 ...We did it!! I guess there's strull time for more, but oh my goodness thank you so much to everyone who's helped me get this far. I don't think anyone could really say how much this has meant to me, and the kids on the ward, and how much this is going to help. Thank you. Jamie

8 years agoBack on Buxton myself for a bit...had a desperate spike of back pain again, but this time should (fingers crossed) be a fairly short trip. Remember, there's only 4 more days left to donate!
