Story

My name is Richard and I am fundraising for my brother James Sims aged 39, normally fit and well, who is very ill and in much pain with cancer in hospital in Manilla, Philippines.

Approximately a year ago James had been complaining of a bad back and sciatica nerve pain in his leg. He was then walking with a limp, then a stick and then a frame. Winding the clock forward to present day James has recently been diagnosed with a rare bone cancer in his hip called Ewing Sarcoma and Primary bone lymphoma. Fortunately the tests indicate that the cancers have not yet spread to vital organs.

However to complicate matters James has fought off DVT needing 2 stents, pneumonia and an infection caused by bed sores (he is bed bound). When he is fit enough he is choosing life and wants to start 12 weeks of chemo which will only be the start of a long journey eventually needing tumours removed, radiotherapy, leg amputation. Currently James is self funding all of this treatment himself. Tests, bedside care, medicines, pain relief, consultant appointments, hospital bed , I could go on but he has already spent many tens of thousands of pounds and is planning to continue spending the same sums.

BUT his money will run out either before the tumour removal or before the leg amputation. It is very difficult to predict costs, durations and any complications that may occur along the way.

Therefore I am asking for donations for my brother to continue his treatment to choose life so he can continue to support his family and bring up his two girls who are under the age 7.
