Story
If we reflect back on 2020 I'm sure everyone will agree, it will be remembered as a year that was extremely challenging in one way or another. Though no one could have ever imagined or anticipated what a life changing year it was for 23-year old James and his family .
In 2018 we were lucky enough to receive a call from a young, confident, charismatic guy who talked his way into a sales position in the Prestige division of The DSG Group, even though there was no job vacancy at that time. What a way to join a business! James' ongoing positivity and drive meant he quickly became a strong member of our team generating big business very quickly.
If you have ever had the pleasure of knowing James, whether it be on a personal or professional level, you will know what a happy, big hearted, absolute gentleman he is, with a true passion for supercars and the industry itself!
This time last year, with everyone in a state of panic about the pandemic sweeping the world, James was dealing with a different kind of worry. Extreme lower back pain made it pretty much impossible for him to lie down. Doctors advised him to seek physiotherapy but he knew this wasn't the solution he needed. Ignoring their advice, his persistence paid off which prompted MRI scans to be undertaken. James and his family were hit with the devastating news that he has a form of cancer called ARMS (Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma) in his sacral bone and potentially other areas. This impacts the large muscles, resulting in a rapid loss of muscle mass.
After months of intense chemotherapy, hair loss, weight loss and extreme pain. James' unwavering hope and positive mindset remain throughout.

Last month we were all dealt with the further devastating news that James's treatments have not fully worked and the cancer has flared up in the left vertebrae of his spine.
There are no 'proven treatments' left and he now has to pursue options privately outside of the NHS.
Our aim is to raise as much money as possible to provide James with the private treatment and pain relief he needs. We are lucky to have James in our team and want to do what we can to help get him back where he belongs!
On 24th April 2021 the DSG Prestige team will take on the grueling challenge of The Yorkshire Three Peaks. This is 24 miles / 38.6km with an ascent of 1585m to tackle the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire, Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The aim of the challenge is to walk this 24 mile route within 12 hours, though, being a competitive bunch we are aiming for 10 hours! James is such a huge part of our working family we would be very grateful if you could donate anything you can towards this fund.
