I've raised £2000 to Help fund a memorial bench and garden to remember Pipe Major Mr Iain MacDonald at Kingston park Neilston East Renfrewshire

A FUNDRAISER TO HELP US COMMEMORATE ONE OF OUR OWN
PIPE MAJOR MR IAIN MACDONALD
In May we lost one of Neilston's greatest ambassadors, pipe major Mr Iain MacDonald, A gentleman noted in the piping world as being one of Scotland’s greatest ambassadors for piping and culture, !
A grand accolade for such a grand Gentleman but then,
Iain was known and respected all around the globe.
Iain was only 70, He had been in hospital for a few weeks with various health issues, and his untimely death shocked the Family and villagers. he is still sorely missed and his influence in the piping world, now lost, will be felt dearly by many friends and contemporaries.
The Village gave Iain A grand send off in May, A fantastic turn out (Despite the Covid virus) on every street the cortege passed.
The Neilston War Memorial would like to commemorate Iain by installing the bespoke Piper memorial bench pictured on the High street in the centre of the Village the big man loved so much, We look to install the commemorative bench, made by Oglivies Kilmarnock and dress the area with a couple of flower beds each side of the bench.
I have contacted Iain's Family for permission to forward this project, they are very happy with our plan to commemorate Iain in this way.
Iain took the Neilston Pipe band and the name of our village all around the World, Our Village looks to commemorate and salute Ian's outstanding talent and visionary wisdom.
If you can spare a pound or two please donate and help us remember this great Man
Kind Regards
Matt
