Story

What happens when you put together a group of elderly residents from a care home, a class of musical young people and a primary school choir? A Christmas song about what Christmas means to us all! Click below to hear the song:

It's more than . . . . video 2

It's more than . . . (first video)

"It's more than just the stockings and the gifts ...... it's about the love and the memories, it's about you and me."

"Make sure that no one is left out, make sure that they’re not alone. Make sure they don’t feel their sorrow their hurt and their pain on their own . Cos we know what Christmas is about ."

Everyone in the Kingswood Manor & Friends Band and Choir have a home and a place to belong. So all of us - old and young - want to use the song to raise money for people on the streets of Liverpool who don't have a home and who need to be loved and cherished too.

Money donated through this JustGiving page will be given to homeless projects in Liverpool (including the Jericho Project and Victory Outreach) to provide practical aid and support to those on the streets this winter. If you enjoyed our song, please donate a Christmas gift for those without a home to call their own.

The inspiration for this project came from Ian Forshaw of Harbour Health Care. He challenged the Y11 students of Christian Fellowship School to take some music he had written and use it as a starting point for their own song about what Christmas means to old and young. Jill Smith, Activities Co-ordinator of Kingswood Manor gathered memories from the residents about Christmas past and worked with the Y11 students of CFS to create the lyrics for the first part of the song. Jill and Simone Dale, our musical director, trained the Kingswood Manor Choir and our older soloist, Evelyn. The next verses were developed by CFS students from Year 11, while the CFS band set to work developing the music, led by their music teacher, Paula Virr. Simone worked with the Kingswood Manor, CFS and Springwood choirs to prepare them to produce our final combined song - It's more than . . . . .
