Story
New Hope for Children is a Christian charity that has five homes closely linked in Bogota. Two hundred abandoned children are cared for as one huge family. They are wonderfully looked after, educated and given a full life. The school needs the building of an assembly room and canteen for all the children to be able to eat together. Land is available and there is permission for the building. We want to help fund this building.
The school in Bogoso has three hundred children of primary school age. It has been running for eight years. Education in Ghana can be very sketchy. Teachers are often not paid and there is little continuity for children. The school is keen to develop a secondary school on the same site some time in the future, but at present, the real need is for transportation. Many children live a distance away and struggle to get to school. Present transport is inadequate and we would like to help fund the purchase of a desperately needed minibus.

7 years agoWe did it! On Sunday 6th August, we cycled into John O'Groats bathed in sunshine. 1016 miles from south to north and an amazing experience. We're so grateful for good weather (apart from 82 miles in the rain in Shropshire😊), safe cycling, the wind generally behind us and wonderful support from everyone. Thank you for all your generous contributions to our two charities , we are quite overwhelmed by your support. We have an offline total building too, so we will share the complete total very soon. Thank you everyone.

7 years agoThank you so much to everyone for such generous donations. They are spurring us on! Today we had some challenging hills cycling from Monmouth to Clun in Shropshire, but mostly beautiful, undulating countryside through picturesque villages with many black and white tudor cottages. I was fresher today because of time out for Euan's graduation and Dick is motoring along with increasing pace! There is a lovely team spirit with the others who are cycling with us and we're beginning to think we might just complete this! A big 82 miles tomorrow....

Dick is a retired GP and Izzy is a Teacher of the Deaf. We have only recently taken up cycling and this ride will be a huge challenge for us. We are very committed to both these causes and have been involved in their development over the last few years. Thank you for your support
