We are a group of personal injury lawyers specialising in representing people affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos related illnesses. Through our years of experience (actually decades for some of us!) we have met some great people who have been supported by the Avon Mesothelioma Foundation, either being patients asking for support, family members needing guidance or even healthcare professionals learning how to better assist their patients. We have been both awed and humbled by the hard work of the charity and for this reason we are losing our formal wear, getting in sports clothes and abseiling 150 ft. down Sandford Quarry .

A bit more about the charity and why we support them

The Avon Mesothelioma Foundation (AMF) is a charity that has been established to help support patients with Mesothelioma and aid research into this devastating disease. Mesothelioma incidence continues to increase with over 2500 people being diagnosed each year in the UK.

This is set to rise each year for the next 10 years. This cancer is caused almost exclusively by asbestos exposure.

The AMF trustees review applications for research grants and funding applications for patient equipment etc. four times each year and aim to support top quality research likely to lead to improved treatment and care for patients with this disease and avoid unnecessary admissions. The charity offers a next day service to those who may have urgent needs such as pleural effusion. The pleural team at Bristol is staffed by a dedicated team of doctors, nurse specialist, research doctors and nurses, allowing specialism in one clinic.

These are all incredibly valuable services offered to patients alongside emotional support to their families. We want to do our best to ensure this charity can continue providing its services in the future.
