Afghanistan fundraising
We’re jumping on our bikes for an office-to-office ride raising funds for Afghan refugees.
The ongoing crisis in Afghanistan and the impact it has had on ordinary people in the country has both shocked and saddened global audiences watching on as the situation unfolds.
For the team at The Institute of Export & International Trade (IOE&IT) this has certainly been the case. In particular, the scenes of Afghan citizens struggling to leave their homeland as a last resort to assure their safety and retain hard won freedoms, have been hard to watch.
For those that have managed to leave Afghanistan, the UK is one of the nations where they now find themselves preparing to resettle. And we want to do all we can to support them.
The reality is that in these early days following their arrival in the UK, simple financial support has to be the priority for Afghan refugees.
To support this urgent cause the IOE&IT’s people are embarking on a number of events and efforts to raise much needed funds, one of which is a 100-mile bike ride from our Export House head office in Peterborough to our new London office location.
Director general Marco Forgione and members of the team will be spinning up their legs for a gruelling day in the saddle on Friday 24 September.
Your support for the ride and the fundraising effort would be hugely appreciated and all donations will be going to direct to Afghan refugees arriving in the UK. Please do give generously if you can.
Huge thanks from everyone at the IOE&IT!
