Story

Many vulnerable children living in areas of social deprivation do not have their own toothbrush. Some children share a toothbrush with their siblings, others don't have access to a toothbrush at all.

These children often suffer from high levels of tooth decay which is primarily preventable. Often these children will have sleepless nights and have to take time off school due to the pain they suffer. Some children will have to be admitted to hospital to have extractions under general anaesthesia, which invariably can result in a dental phobia.

Providing toothbrushes and toothpaste for these children will help to protect their teeth and ensure toothbrushing becomes part of their daily routine which will not only improve their dental health but also their general health.

Carrie Regis and Ingrid Perry from mydentist, dressed as tooth fairies complete with wings and tutus, will undertake a sponsored bike ride in the East Riding of Yorkshire on Saturday 20th July 2024 to raise money to buy toothbrushes for vulnerable children.

If you would like to sponsor them so they can buy as many toothbrushing packs as possible that would be amazing! It doesn't matter how small an amount you wish to donate as every penny counts.
