Story
John Coyle joined QTS Group in 2010 as Site Manager progressing to the Compliance team in 2013. He focused his work within QTS on processes and procedures, site set-up and operations and contributing to and supporting Audits. He was a regular face on site supporting site related personnel wherever required, dedicated to improving site safety.
In 2012, John underwent a double lung transplant at The Freeman Hospitals Cardiothoracic Centre in Newcastle where he received excellent care from some of the UK’s top transplant specialists. John was fully supported by QTS throughout his lengthy recovery from surgery, ongoing treatment and his staged return to work.
After his transplant and recovery, John regularly took part in both the European and UK Transplant games which were held every summer, taking part in cycling, shot-put, archery and in more recent years, darts.
In honour of the fabulous surgeons who helped him, John supported the Freeman Hospital by carrying out talks about his own experiences with other transplant patients. He also dedicated time to fundraising in support of organ donation. He also recently had the honour of meeting the family of his organ donor.
Throughout the years since his transplant, John struggled with the effects of rejection of the organs and, after becoming ill again, he was admitted to Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, passing away in late March 2019.
John showed a great commitment to QTS Group and the Compliance team throughout the years and he will be sorely missed. In his memory, we would like to raise money to be donated to the charity of his family's choice.
