Story
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing over the bar of Commander Tony Crisp MTC on Boxing Day morning. CDR Crisp gave many years to our Cadet Unit, first becoming involved with TS Active in 1979 after retiring from the Royal Navy in 1977, and later at the Rank of LT CDR was the units Commanding Officer for many years up until his recent retirement earlier this year due to ill health.
CDR Crisp formed and ran the TS Active Marching Band in 1980, continuing to be bandmaster right up until recently, playing & teaching the side drum and Bugle, and taking the band into many performances, including regularly leading remembrance Sunday parades in Bletchley Park each year. CDR Crisp was also the Bugler for the Royal Naval Association, member of the HMS Plymouth Association, Member of the Fort Cumberland Guard, and Social Secretary for the NMBVA Solent Branch, organising and running many social events, giving up much of his time to carry out these activities, all of which were voluntary.
Many people had their lives touched by CDR Crisp, and hundreds, if not thousands of young people passed through the Cadet unit during his time of being involved, and many of these people admit that they would not be the person they are today if it were not for CDR Crisp, he was a true leader and will be very sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
CDR Crisp leaves behind a Widow Anne, a daughter Karen, and 2 grandchildren, to whom the unit would like to send their sincere condolences. Respect to you Sir, Rest in Peace!
CDR Crisp's Funeral takes place at the Oaks Crematorium in Havant at 1430 on Friday 25th January, and his family have requested that Donations be made to Training Ship Active MTC, the Naval Cadet Unit for 8 - 18 year old youngsters which was a huge part of his life for for nearly 40 years. Your kind donation is very much appreciated and will help to ensure that CDR Crisp's hard work over the last 40 years will continue to benefit youngsters in the local community.

Few people become legends in their own lifetime. Tony did just that, and we thank him for making us part of that legend. Bless you, Skipper. Love and thanks from “The Bishes”.

Many happy memories from the 1980s playing the bell lyre, glockenspiel and then becoming drum major. Great times all thanks to Tony Crisp.
