Story
In February 2020, our world changed forever. A void that will never be filled. Alex, AJP, Percy, Pickett, Scouse. A son, brother, partner and friend, Alex was loved so much and by so many. A quote which means so much to us since his tragic passing; A life without love, is like a tree without roots. This quote was lit up on the billlboard above the bar that Alex sat and enjoyed his last beloved Moscow Mule. He had so much love, and had roots on a global scale. Alex was relentless in maintaining his relationships. He cared so much about those around him, their families and every part of their life. Alex lived life to the absolute fullest, each and every one of us will have a long list of memories and stories that we will cherish for a lifetime. His energy and enthusiasm was contagious to all around him.
We now know that as he went to sleep that February night, he peacefully passed due to a condition called Cardiomyopathy, or an enlarged heart. Alex was beyond committed to all he did in life, to his career and to his family and this will be matched by our commitment to ensure his legacy lives on.
We have decided to come together and set-up a heart foundation in his honour. Our aim is to not only raise awareness of heart abnormalities but finance free heart screening days for the young. We know he’d want as much good as possible to come from his passing and it’s our commitment to him that we will do all we can to help identify the early diagnosis of cardiomyopathy.
Now the lockdown restrictions have eased we now have the ability to come together, to process the grief and to support each other, which is desperately needed. We will also continue with our fundraising, building on the exceptional support we received for the ‘Ride for Scouse’ organised by Duncan Ross in May.
Together, now and into the future we will complete various challenges, host several events and do everything we can to raise money and awareness of this heart condition. Our next event will take place on August bank holiday, where many of Alex’s nearest and dearest will cycle Coast to Coast setting off in Whitehaven and finishing on Roker beach in Sunderland, covering 130 miles.
Alex, words simply cannot describe just how much we will miss you bigman. You had a huge impact and influence on all of our lives and we will do everything we can to ensure your approach to life, your relentless energy and your legacy lives on in all that we do.
We are aware just how difficult the current Global situation is, especially the economic climate, but if you were able to help with anything at all - no matter how small - it would be incredible and so appreciated. Anything, even just some spare change, would help make such a difference and we know how much Alex would greatly value it too.
RIP Scouse - ‘It’s that heart of gold and stardust soul that made you beautiful’
All our love, Team Scouse x
