All donations raised will be used to help those effected with the following items:
£50 provides a family food pack-A whole months food supply for a family of 6
£100 provides blankets, clothes and a hygiene kit- Helps prevent further illnesses with winter looming
£350 provides shelter for a family of 6
I know we all have problems but we all have food and water and more importantly the security of our own home.
But what is happening to the Rohingya people is unthinkable and how any human can do this to another is beyond me...below is one of thousands of stories i have heard recently... all have very similar horror stories...
Since late August, Burmese security forces have been waging a systematic campaign of violence against the Rohingya population of Myanmar's westernmost state of Rakhine. By the latest count, more than 600,000 Rohingya Muslims—a ghettoized stateless minority denied citizenship and basic rights by the Myanmar government—have walked, swam, and crawled through jungles and hills and muddy ravines into neighbouring Bangladesh. Most arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Many haven't eaten for days. They report villages burned, possessions looted, women raped, and countless dead, included babies and small children. Around 50,000 Rohingyas remain trapped in the mountains, hemmed in by security forces, without food or supplies.
The Rohingya, a mostly stateless Muslim group numbering about 1.1 million, are the majority in Rakhine state and smaller communities in Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia. The stateless Muslim group are routinely described by human rights organisations as the "most oppressed people in the world" and a "minority that continues to face statelessness and persecution."
Myanmar's government, led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, is saying its all fake news!! The violence in border regions has raised questions about her commitment to human rights and ability to rein in the military, which retains a major political role.
Question I ask is how can the world watch and let the ethnic cleansing happen without doing anything? I hear you say yes well what can I do.?
Well you can help by supporting the Rohingya and the charities who are in the ground in Bangladesh helping those who managed to escape.
We want people to stand up with Rohingya, so to support this we are giving away T-shirts that say you stand with Rohingya.
There are approx 350 T-shirts in sizes small, med and large. ( ALL donated by us so your money is 100% for charity )
Every donation counts so with that in mind anyone who donates £15 or more will qualify for a free T-shirt. Please email i.stand.with.rohinyga@gmail.com and say what size you would like and also £2 for postage and packaging. Please note the postage and package will need to be paid via paypal.
Everyone should donate even £5 however we have set out minimum for the giveaways as we want to encourage all to donate allowing us to hit the target we set
Here is one of the many horror stories..
Jamalida Begum came to Bangladesh 15 days ago from Hadgudapara village in Myanmar. Two months ago the military came to her village, killed her husband and burned her home to the ground with everything she owned in it. The next morning the military surrounded her village. "They dragged me and the other women to the yard and beat us. I was screaming and begging Allah to save me. The military screamed "Where is your Allah now? He's not saving you!"
Three men dragged Jamalida to the bush, pointed a gun at her and said 'If you resist, I'll shoot you' then took turns raping her until she lost consciousness. A few weeks after the rape, a group of foreign journalists came to her village and interviewed Jamalida and other rape victims. That night the military came to her village and cut the throat of the man who helped translate for the journalists. The soldiers went door to door with Jamalida's photo looking for her, and neighbours ran to warn her. She ran away and for five days she took shelter in the bush and in different houses until she fled to Bangladesh. She says that every night she has nightmares about the Myanmar military. "I have flashbacks when I hear loud noises. I've heard that the military has been burning the other nearby villages and also killing everyone. Those who escaped like me are the lucky ones.
Please pass on to others in your contact. We will set up a social media platform to upload updates, pictures and videos before and after visiting.
