Story
An Arctic Adventure for an old bird.... so I got to 52 and decided to have another go at a challenge that I did for my 40th Birthday....... a 300km Dog Sledding Expedition in Northern Norway.... it was the adventure of a lifetime but it was also one of the toughest things I have ever done both physically and mentally, and if I'm honest at one point it nearly broke me...
So why am I doing this again? Well, I think the physical pain is like childbirth and you forget the bad and remember the good and whilst it was so tough, it was also an incredible experience. At nearly 53 its a good excuse to give myself a serious physical challenge and also to raise money for 2 charities that are close to my heart...
The first is Macmillan, I have 2 friends going through cancer treatment at the moment and both are being wonderfully supported by Macmillan. They also supported my friends late wife when she was going through her journey and they provided continued and much valued support. So for them I am doing this....
The second is a charity called Paws on Hearts and they are where I rescued my 2 dogs from. I know how hard these guy work and how desperate the charity are for funds, so I want to do this to help them continue their amazing work with the dogs and cats in their care.
Im not quite sure why I am doing this again at my age, I must be bonkers! It will probably be the hardest thing I will ever do physically, I had a new hip 2 years ago, I have a knackered knee and I will have to work super hard to become physically fit for this challenge. On top of that it will be cold... very cold and we will be camping in tents for the week... so all in all a tough call for an old bird!!
Any donation is hugely appreciated. No matter how small. I will be updating until I go to Norway in April letting you all know about my training and then the challenge itself.
Thank you for listening.

Well.done. Sounds like it was tough in so many ways. But you did it and should be proud of yourself helping 2 great charities. Time to chill or perhaps you’ve had enough of that.
