I've raised £1000 to Help my uncle (pensioner/unable to work) set up a new home following a devastating house fire

The guy had no insuinsuranceWhile taking a nap yesterday (20th may 22), my uncles freezer malfunctioned and burned his house down (cause of fire determined by fire brigade). Luckily all occupants are ok, my sleeping uncle survived thanks to the quick reactions of his neighbours who were able to get him out of the house before he succumbed to the inferno. As you can imagine, the fire destroyed most of what would be considered basic necessities and the things that didn't burn suffered extensive smoke damage. I’d really love to just help him get set up again with the basics. No amount of money will be able to replace the items of sentimental value lost or help with the pain associated with their loss. I’m really just talking about furniture, kitchen stuff, maybe a new freezer (which doesn’t explode at the drop of a hat!). He had no insurance so there’ll be no assistance when it comes to buying this stuff.
I know what you're thinking, why should you help, why can't he just suck it up like you would. The reality is, the poor guy has a cataract issue in both eyes and so, following a working life spanning 40 plus years, he is currently unable to work (he's stuck on a waiting list for the corrective surgery and has been for about a year!). The reason I'm doing this instead of him is simply that he's a proud man and he really wouldn't dream of asking for help. Listen, it goes without saying that times are tough for everyone these days, rising living costs, covid, etc, etc, but please help if you can. Even the smallest amount will make a difference and be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.
