Before you donate here is a little story about Poppy and her Journey at only 3 weeks old.

Poppy was admitted into Leicester Royal Infirmary due to her showing positive blood results on a metabolic test. She was then examined by the Dr on that team and quickly noticed she had a high breathing rate. This then quickly resulted into emergency X-rays and Echo examinations on the heart. Upon these tests they had noticed that Poppy in fact had ASD and VSD (in short, 2 holes in her heart meaning that the blood and oxygen levels wasn’t very good/leaking blood into lungs). We were very lucky that it was caught when it happened as Poppy was only 3 weeks old at the time. After a couple of weeks on the Child Cardiac ward we then got the amazing news that Poppy could have the Surgery for the full repair of her heart. She gained the weight she needed and got herself ready for the surgery to have it on time! 6 hrs into surgery lead to a complete repair!! Following the surgery we spent a week in PCICU (paediatric child Intensive care unit). She had a breathing tube and a load of lines with fluids and meds. After a couple of days they were positive that the breathing tube could come out. This wasn’t the case, they attempted to take the tube out which was successful for about 30mins, however numbers dropped and that led to 6 mins of Cardiac Arrest. They managed to get her all stable again by putting a tube back in. A few days following that she decided that the tube was annoying and helped take it out by giving a huge cough. She was stable and strong this time. Days after that we were send back to Ward 1 and then a few days after that we were sent home after she had come off the meds and showed signs of massive improvement.
