Story

Like many other football clubs up and down our country, the impact of the current coronavirus pandemic is hitting us hard. Income has reduced to a trickle whilst expenses such as utility bills, ground maintenance, insurance and certifications still need to be paid.

We asked for your financial help, but it appears we under-estimated the level of commitment and affection our fans and well-wishers have for the club. Our target of £1,000 was reached within just two days and we would very much like to thank everyone who has already contributed in what are challenging times for all of us. But the fund remains open and further donations will make us even stronger.

The message from our Club Manager, Lance Key, is as follows;

"We have reached our goal due to your enormous generosity, but every little helps. Let’s see how far we can go. Once again, thank you to all who have donated. We really are truly grateful that this football club means so much to you, as it does to us."

Some clubs may not survive this crisis, but we are determined to emerge from it in the best possible state. We are pulling out all the stops to ensure we can be there when matches resume, and continue the incredible success we have had in our youth, ladies and first team structures.

Histon FC is asking whether you would donate as much as you can afford to help the club get through this challenging period and continue the great work we have had to temporarily abandon. Whether you are a dedicated Stutes fan or simply supportive of what we are trying to achieve, any size donation would be much appreciated.

If you provide your name and contact details when you make your donation, we will enter you into a draw for one years’ free VIP status which will allow you entry into the ground as our guest.

In addition, if your donation is of £25 or more, we will give you free admission to our next home league match, whenever that may be.

The fund will close on 31st May. In the meantime, please stay safe and we hope to see you back at Bridge Road once football resumes.

Club Captain Max York has also voiced his support for the collection, stating, “It is greatly encouraging for the players to know that the club and its supporters are doing all they can to ensure we are well placed to carry on with the development of the club when the current crisis is over. One of the strengths of community clubs such as ours is that we are there for each other in times of need.

“Players throughout the club’s structure draw inspiration from support like this and will be looking to reward your faith in us and the club when football recommences. Until such time, please stay safe, follow the government advice and stay strong.”
