Story

UPDATE: Thanks to lots of generous donations, we have reached our minimum target, but the children want to continue fundraising and they have discussed what we could do if we far exceed our target. Ideas include buying a second defibrillator for somewhere else in our community!

We are Hillside Primary and Nursery School, and we are trying to raise enough money to buy a defibrillator for our community. By doing this, we could possibly be saving someone's life in the future! It is estimated that around 7.6 million people in the UK live with heart and circulatory problems, so we wanted to help those who are at risk of cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, there isn't always a cure for heart failure but a defibrillator could be the best chance of survival.

We found out that the closest one to us is approximately 7 minutes drive away and every minute, someone's chances of survival decreases by 10% - but then we would also have to get back. A defibrillator would be open to anyone in the public and you don't need special training to use it. It would be for everyone in the public as well as our school.

By donating on this website, you could maybe save someone's life.

Thank you!
