Story

Help restore our iconic Pier following recent storm damage.

Herne Bay Pier Trust (charity no: 1128253) is appealing for local support from the community to help repair the damages caused by the recent high winds.

Our pier is a place for fun, music, shopping, food and even wedding celebrations. It attracts thousands of visitors a year and has helped put Herne Bay back on the map! Many children have run along the wooden boards of the pier excitedly hoping for a go on the horses while parents browse the shops and grab a bite to eat.

But last week, for the first time in recent years, Mother Nature hit hard. The wind was in the perfect direction to cause devastation to the pier walkway and the beautiful carousel.

Luckily the pier’s structure survived, the white huts suffered only minor exterior damage, the portaloo could be picked up and the Punch and Judy box was put back.

But the carousel? Our beautiful iconic vintage carousel that we all know and love, was not so lucky. Thankfully all damage can be rectified. However, the cost has been estimated to be approaching £10,000!

The Pier Trust have been overwhelmed by the response and support from the local community and many have asked if there is anything they can do to help. Donations can help. Beit large or small, every penny will help rebuild our beautiful pier and ensure that the summer of 2019 will be another huge success for the people of HB.
