    Story

Henry is a lively and very lovable 3 year old with a life limiting disease.

A year ago, Henry was diagnosed with MPS2 which is a very serious and life limiting disease. Currently there is no cure, but the fight continues to get Henry on a clinical trial which might mean he has to travel abroad or incur other expenses.

MPS2 is short for Mucopolysaccharidosis type 2 and is otherwise known as Hunters disease. This genetic condition affects many different parts of the body and occurs almost exclusively in little boys. It is a progressively debilitating and life limiting disorder.

Henry is lucky enough to be receiving world-class treatment from Great Ormond Street Hospital but he has had to endure a number of operations and some lengthy stays in hospital. This would be tough on anyone, but to see a three-year old go through this can be heart breaking.

Each week he receives treatment to replace the enzymes that MPS2 has deprived him of. This treatment can only manage and delay the worst effects of his condition - it is not a cure.

We are raising funds to get Henry on a clinical trial that will lead to a final cure.

During the month of May, the Ishinryu Karate Association is holding it's first ever KICKATHON challenge. The Challenge for each participant is to complete a number of kicks in each and every day of May. Dragons (junior students) will perform 30 kicks a day. Adult (level 1) 50 kicks a day. Adult (level 2) 100 kicks a day. We look forward to seeing video evidence of your kicking abilities, both inside and outside of the Dojo on the WhatsApp group you have been invited to. We passed the £500 milestone for Henry last week. As a family, we've been overwhelmed with your kind generosity. Thank you again for your donations. Henry now has his very own website at henryrice.org. We'll be posting updates on his progress including news on clinical trials. Henry will be adding his own updates in his very own Blog. Look out for some exciting news from Ishinryu Karate. They are planning an ISHINRYU KICKATHON in support of Henry's cause. More on this very soon. Thank you again for all your support Henry's Grandad
