Support Marija for her cancer treatment

Our dear friend, Marija, was first diagnosed with Stage 2 multifocal breast cancer in 2016. During the past 4 and a half years, she has undergone multiple surgeries and treatments, done lots of research, and meticulously followed her exercise program and dietary plan. Spending days, months, and years in many different therapies, many of which extremely costly and not covered by insurance, required full dedication and a great amount of time away from work to be able to concentrate on getting well, leaving Marija’s financial resources almost completely depleted.

Now, her cancer has returned for the third time and spread locally (Stage 3). While the good news is that it is still local to the chest area, and has not spread to any other organs, time is of the essence to get her the treatment she needs. Every day is important – if her cancer progresses to Stage 4, it will not be curable anymore.

We refuse to let go of Marija. We refuse to believe that the only thing that Marija’s life depends on is a sum of money. Please help us save her now, when treatment is far more likely to be successful, before any distant metastasis occurs.

The public health system in Serbia no longer offers Marija the best chance to clear her body of cancer once and for all. Marija’s chemosensitivity tests show that she would not respond to the chemotherapies and targeted drugs she is prescribed by the current guidelines in Serbia. She needs access to the drugs that the tests showed would work for her, and therefore is completely dependent on getting treatment abroad in order to become cancer-free. She is facing a new round of financial burdens in Serbia and abroad for medical bills, CT scans, MRIs, PET/CT scans, blood tests, biopsies, treatments, medicines, supplements, plus transportation, accomodation, and costs of living abroad for several months.
