Story
During my battle with breast cancer in 2016, I met a lady, Claire Graham, who was also diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer - a particularly aggressive and fast moving cancer that can only be treated with chemotherapy.
Three months after her diagnosis, Claire's one year old son, Harley, was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye) and subsequently had to have it removed. (Only 50 children in the UK and 6 in Ireland are diagnosed with this cancer each year). Not only did Claire have to go through her own treatment, (chemotherapy) but she also had to look after Harley as he went through his treatment and struggled to cope with his prothesis. 2016 wasn't kind to Claire or her family.
At the end of 2016, Claire was supposed to start radiotherapy, which should have signalled the end of her treatment. However, she was having headaches and was referred for an MRI. Her worst fears were confirmed - the cancer had spread to her brain. In early 2017 it was also discovered that her breast cancer had returned in her breast and was on the rampage.
Claire lives in Dublin and despite Professor Justin Stebbings (who is based in London), agreeing to see her via the wonderful Charity Team Verrico, he can't treat her because of where she lives but has advised that she needs a certain set of drugs.
Her only hope is a drug called Pembrolizumab and then Avastin. Unfortunately, Claire is at the mercy of a post code lottery and where she lives in Dublin, Pembrolizumab isn't available to her. She will have to pay for the drugs herself and this will cost a staggering £85,000.
Claire and her family need your help. Please donate whatever you can. Nothing is too small. All monies will be given to one of the medical teams helping her. If not enough money is raised to fund (or partial fund) her treatment, the monies will be given to Team Verrico to help others battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Thank you for reading and possibly donating. xxx

8 years agoOn Sunday, the day the JustGiving page ended, I was in Ireland with my daughter at a dance competition and we got to meet Claire, Declan and Harley. It was fantastic to be able to share the success of this page and finally have a hug to celebrate. Thank you to everybody who donated. Claire now has enough to start treatment and to spend time with Harley who is an incredible little boy with a big character. Thank you - you are all amazing.

8 years agoAs you're probably aware, this page will end on Sunday. When I set it up, never in my wildest dreams did I think we would get such a response. I am humbled and grateful to you all for your support and continued support. I thought I'd share some of the page statistics because they are jaw dropping (in a good way). Please keep sharing this page and doing whatever you can to make these last few days as good as we can. Thank you from Claire, Harley, Declan, all Claire's amazing friends and family and also from me.

8 years agoA belated Happy Easter to you all and thank you for your continued support - getting to 79% of target is phenomenal! We're nearly there but still need a big push. I believe we have funds coming in from a quiz night and also from a fundraising breakfast so that will definitely help! Claire is finding her current treatment regime quite difficult and has been a regular at hospital in the past few weeks but, as ever, has a smile on her face. Please keep donating because we're within touching distance now. Thank you to every single one of you.

8 years agoTo celebrate reaching 60% of target I thought I'd tell you about a day in the life of Claire! Yesterday she spent 10 hours in hospital having a blood transfusion because she's so poorly. 10 hours in hospital meant her phone ran out of battery so she couldn't call anybody to get a lift so she decided to get the bus home (YES REALLY!). Whilst sitting at the bus stop, who should cycle past but her consultant who nearly crashed looking at her in surprise! Hahahaha! Claire is one tough cookie. Keep sharing this page please lovely people.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer called Triple Negative. I was lucky my tumour was caught very early - others aren't so lucky.
