Story

Covid knows no boundaries - So does compassion.

Covid has affected people to a severe and unimaginable extent.

This deadly disease is continuing to affect millions of people in India leading to an exponential death count. As of 16 August 2021, in India, 32.2 million people have tested positive for Covid and 432,000 people have died due to Covid ( possibly an undercount ).

On May 11, the World Health Organisation, in its weekly epidemiological report, stated that India accounts for 50 percent of global cases and 30 percent of reported global deaths.

Government and private hospitals are full of Covid patients with several others waiting for ICU beds.

As you can imagine, everyday, there is increasing demand for oxygen supplies, medicines and hospital beds to help people recover from this deadly disease.

Many people affected by Covid are finding it extremely difficult to self quarantine, buy medicines and food supplies during the quarantine period.

Urgent support is needed to ensure that timely care is provided to save lives of people affected by Covid in India.

People also need support to quarantine following a Covid positive test and get timely treatment.

Your funds are helping us to:

- Provide timely support for people recovering from Covid

- Ensure that people are able to afford the treatment they need if they are diagnosed with Covid.

- Enable recovery through self quarantine and offer the support needed during their recovery period. 1 person effectively self quarantining can prevent spreading the virus to several others.

Curry for Covid - Hurry to Help

Curry for Covid is an humble initiative where I am making 500 curry boxes with rice for our NHS Health and social care staff to raise money towards Covid recovery in India.

I am in contact with some local medical trusts and hospitals in India who are right in the middle of fighting Covid and helping people affected by Covid.

Whilst the severely unwell people are battling against Covid in intensive care units, ( if they are lucky enough to find a bed), the mild - moderately unwell people with covid need support to access treatment, food and medical supplies when they are isolating either in a hospital bed ( where available ) or in their own homes.

If we are able to support as many mild - moderately unwell people as possible to self- quarantine with the necessary medical and food supplies, we can stop the spread of the disease and ease the pressure on the ICU beds as much as possible.

A rough estimate is that it costs around £50 for someone tested positive for covid, with mild symptoms, to self-quarantine in their own homes for at least 10 days with the required medical and food supplies.

This is a great opportunity for us to spread compassion, care and love through these small acts of kindness to let people know that we care because even through the darkest days, humanity still prevails.

If not you, then who?

If not now, then when?
