Caroline is a widow with 4 children. She lives in Lagos. Sometime in 2013, she felt a lump under her armpit. She went to a nearby hospital and was told that it was just fat and nothing to worry about. Fast forward to 2015, Caroline was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.⠀

A huge percentage of the population in West Africa live on less than $1 a day. A cancer diagnosis is usually a death sentence as the patients cannot afford treatment and they have no health insurance. In Nigeria, breast cancer is the most common cancer accounting for about 40 deaths a day.

Caroline is just one of the low income women diagnosed with breast cancer that CancerAware is making a difference in their lives in Nigeria. They cover the cost of their cancer treatments, feeding and other expenses.

In addition to this, they also offer free breast cancer screening in rural and hard to reach communities. Theirr goal is to reduce the cancer incidence in Africa through prevention, early detection and support. Your donation will help them move closer to achieving this.
