Story

My name is Khalid Kalil. I am 27 years old and I live in Sheffield. I live with my wife and three children and I am the sole provider for my family. I am a member of a community that has been disproportionately harmed by the pandemic, but despite the high risk to myself and my family, I continued to provide a service to the public throughout the pandemic.

As a key worker I have delivered food to high risk people shielding and those infected with the virus. It has been a scary time to work but I have felt like I have had a responsibility to do my bit to help. And I have had to continue working in order to support my family.

On the 27th August 2020 I was fired by Deliveroo. They told me I was not following Covid-19 regulations which is something that is completely untrue. I have relied on these regulations to keep myself and my family safe during the pandemic and I would not break these rules. I was given no chance to appeal this decision and prove my innocence. I was given no chance to save my livelihood. Deliveroo have ripped it from me and refused to listen to my pleas to let me have my job back and let me get back to work. I have no idea where this complaint against me came from or what motivated it. The company has refused to back up these unsubstantiated allegations.

I am now facing destitution. I am behind on my bills and I am worried about my future and how I will support my family. I have had to set up this page as I am desperate. I would much rather be working. Thank you for visiting my page.
